Jorge Masvidal vs Colby Covington Set To Headline UFC 272

The long awaited grudge match between former team-mates, and best friends, Colby “Chaos” Covington and Jorge “Gamebred” Masvidal is finally set to go down in March 2022, at UFC 272.

Hunter Campbell broke the news to ESPN, saying that contracts haven’t yet been signed, but a verbal agreement was in place.

Both Covington (16-3) & Masvidal (35-15) have recently had failed attempts at snatching the UFC Welterweight Championship belt away from reigning champion, and future hall of fame shoe-in, Kamaru Usman. Masvidal was knocked out for the first time in his career while Covington dragged out the content to all 5 rounds, before losing via unanimous decision.

Both fighters are known for their loose tongues, and having brash personalities, so the build up to the fight should be just as entertaining as the fight itself. The pre-fight press conferences should also be an absolute riot.

The story behind this fight is another selling point. The pair trained together at American Top Team in Florida, and they even lived together for a while. However, they had a falling out and Covington left American Top Team in 2020.

This fight will likely be a UFC hit, as there are so many angles to promote it from. Hopefully, neither of them get injured or have to pull out of the fight, and we can finally see these top Welterweight contenders settle the beef.
