Holloway is out! Has Volkanovski chosen a new opponent?

Max Holloway & Alex Volkanovski were scheduled to fight at UFC 272 in March. However, just days after the fight was announced, Holloway had to pull out as he has apparently aggravated a previous injury.

This leaves Volkanovski without an opponent to defend his UFC belt against. Luckily for him, as soon as the rest of the featherweight division got wind of the Hawaiian’s injury news, they took to Twitter to publicly throw their hat in the ring. Including recently retired, former 2 division UFC Champion, Henry Cejudo:

After his scintillating battle against Holloway earlier in the year, Yair Rodriguez also tried his luck:

“Do I really need to raise my hand @danawhite? Heal up quick champ @blessedmma. @alexvolkanovski I had respect for you before, but now, f*ck you! You little b**ch you know I’m next.”

Although the champ wasn’t too impressed by the Mexican’s callout, as you can see below

Rising UFC star Giga Chikadze, who is scheduled to fight Kalvin kattar in less than 2 week’s time, also called for his title shot. However, Volk declined his offer as well:

After going through his options, like a kid in a candy store, it seems like Alex “The Great” Volkanovski has decided who he now wants to test his championship title against, Chan Sung Jung, otherwise known as “The Korean Zombie” .

TKZ has not officially accepted the fight yet, but he’d have to have a pretty good reason to turn down a chance at becoming a UFC world champion.
