Dustin Poirier proclaimed loud and proud on a podcast earlier today that he has accepted a short notice bout against Stockton’s own, Nate Diaz.
According to the former UFC Interim Lightweight Champion, Poirier, the UFC and himself are now just waiting on Nate Diaz to accept the fight and sign the contract.
It could be a fight that is only a couple of weeks away, possibly the UFC’s 1st event of 2022! Dustin and nate have been scheduled to fight in the past, but for one reason or another, the fight got canned before either man made it to the Octagon.
Dustin last fought Charles Oliviera for the undisputed UFC Lightweight Championship at UFC 269, where he was submitted in the 3rd round via rear naked choke. Diaz last fought Jorge Masvidal at UFC 244 where he was defeated via doctor’s stoppage, TKO.
Both men are therefore coming off a loss, but they are both big stars in the mixed martial arts world, and a match-up between these two professional savages would be a guaranteed barn burner.
