How fight week differs from International Fight Week

So every International Fight Week is a fight week, but almost every fight week is not International Fight Week.
What fighters go through during fight week
For the athletes, fight week is the hardest stretch outside the fight itself. Most of the training is already done by the time they land, since the eight-to-ten-week camp comes beforehand. Fight week is about making weight and hitting promotional obligations.
Making weight drives the schedule. A standard cut removes 15 to 30 pounds of water weight in the final 24 to 48 hours before the Friday weigh-in, according to the MMA Fight Bible, using sauna sessions, hot baths and controlled water loading. Once the scale reads clean, the fighter rehydrates and can regain most of that weight before Saturday.
