The UFC created the Featherweight division in 2010, when it absorbed the WEC (a promotion which, at the time, held most of the elite ‘light weight’ fighters in the world).
It was a division which was long ruled by Jose Aldo, one of the greatest UFC fighters of all time. However, after eventually losing his Featherweight belt to none other than Conor McGregor, the division opened up and new Champions emerged.
The below UFC rankings are selected by well-respected MMA media members. These media members vote on their own rankings, and then an average result is created, which then determines the rankings on a weekly basis.
