Despite its immense popularity and continued growth, MMA is by and large a new sport. Modern MMA began with The Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) in 1993. Up until this point, there had been very little cross-fight fighting, especially in the western world.
Mixed martial arts is on the front pages of the sports media and the biggest piece of the MMA popularity pie belongs to the UFC. The organization is now the undisputed largest MMA brand in the world and hosts some of the world’s most talented fighters.
We have selected the most successful UFC fighters of all time based strictly on their UFC resumes.
Table of Contents
Demetrious Johnson
Demetrious Johnson held the UFC flyweight title for over six years, becoming one of the most dominant fighters in league history. Before being ousted from the throne by Henry Cejudo, he excelled his rivals in almost every way, often being overly methodical and avoiding risk at the expense of showmanship.
Johnson is not just one of the most successful UFC fighters in history, his name is often mentioned in discussions to determine the greatest fighter of all time. Also, his influence can also be seen in the online gambling industry where on Bizzo Casino Platform it is possible to find a lot of slots on the MMA theme. Johnson has defended the title 11 consecutive times which is the best record in the UFC.
Stipe Miocic
Given the UFC’s heavyweight division’s historical volatility, Stipe Miocic deserves a high spot here for his sustained success.
This instability of heavyweight champions may be due to the fact that it is more difficult to increase winning streaks in fights against powerful guys over 100 kg than in lighter weights. Miocic is the longest-serving UFC heavyweight champion. In two championship runs, he defended the title four times, becoming the first to manage to defend this title more than twice in a row.
Amanda Nunes
Women appeared in MMA later than men, not only at the regional level but also in the main global promotions. In the UFC, there were no fights among girls at all until 2013. And despite this, there is at least one girl who is more than worthy of being at the top of the UFC Most Successful Fighters ranking.
Amanda Nunes has also held the UFC bantamweight belt for a long time and defended it five times.
Anderson Silva
Anderson Silva came to the UFC quite late – at 31 – but during the first six years of his stay in the promotion, he gave out a unique series of 16 victories, 14 of which were ahead of schedule, receiving a total of 12 post-match bonuses for this.
Silva became the middleweight champion during this series, and defended it ten times, owning it for 2457 days – longer than any of the UFC champions.
Khabib Nurmagomedov
The only fighter on our Most Successful UFC Fighters list who doesn’t have a single defeat. Khabib Nurmagomedov retired from MMA with a record of 29-0, including a UFC record of 13-0.
The Eagle held the lightweight title, defending it three times and having the longest winning streak in UFC division history with 13 wins.
Georges St-Pierre
Many would put Georges St-Pierre in the first place, and this is not surprising. Just look at his achievements: UFC middleweight champion and two-time welterweight champion, having defended this belt in total 9 times.
Jon Jones
Jon Jones hasn’t had the smoothest career in the UFC given his doping and legal issues, but probably the best. Jones lost only one in his career – an extremely offensive defeat to Matt Hamill by disqualification.
Jones was a two-time UFC light heavyweight champion with 11 belt defences (a UFC record paired with Demetrious Johnson). Jones is also the youngest champion in UFC history, becoming one at the age of 23.
